I’m Ready for the Big Screen
Last September, I officially added the title “Film Director” to my resume. I was overwhelmed to say the least. Of all of the goals that I have set for myself, the completion of my first film certainly made the list of the most challenging.
I set my soul on becoming a film director because I wanted desperately to create media that could reach the masses and tell our stories!
“I AM” is an American documentary film that candidly accounts one woman’s mission to expose the myriad of factors that contribute to the downward spiral of self-esteem in women and girls that affects all facets of life ranging from education to the acceptance of behaviors that can often result in self-destruction.
I AM interweaves stories of real women and teen girls with candid interviews from esteemed professionals from a myriad of industries who reveal the societal impact on the way that we define beauty and self-worth.
The film’s resounding message “I AM Enough” is critical at every stage of life.
“I AM” reveals the need for continuous media messages that encourage women and girls to love the reflection that they see in the mirror as opposed to buying in to a standard of beauty that does not truly exist: perfection.
The most riveting depiction of one woman’s inspirational quest to make a difference, “I AM”, evokes social action and ultimately, remembrance of self-love.
“I AM” features up close and personal interviews from:
-WNBA’s Monica Wright
-Molly Hopkins & Cynthia Richards of Lifetime’s Double Divas
-Georgia State Representative Dar’shun Kendrick
-Eshe of Arrested Development
-Married 2 Medicine’s Kari Wells
-Attorney Precious Anderson of The Anderson Firm
-Koereyelle Dubose, Founder of The Single Wives Club
-Lillie Mae, Founder of Lillie Mae PR
-Deborah Hightower, Best Selling Author
-Arthlene LaGair, International Designer and Founder of LeGair Luxury Brand
-Arnita Johnson, CEO of Luxurious Credit
-Yvonne Fry, Executive Producer of Fry Entertainment
What I know is that anything is possible. We can accomplish anything that we harness our energy towards. I have set my sights on continuing to tell stories through media. Whether through books, plays, film and any other format that I can deliver, our voices must be heard.
Although I am finished with this film, this is only the beginning of my journey as a Film Director.
Mark, my words: I’m ready for the big screen!
