What Do They Say About You?
How often does yesterday’s trash hold us back from reaping today’s treasures?
Recently, I was speaking to a dear friend and she was upset that someone had reminded her of a past transgression in which she dated a guy (I can’t quite refer to him as a gentleman because that is not the manner in which he behaved) who was extremely cruel and abusive to her. It bothered her so badly that she was moved to tears. In the midst of our conversation, I could see that her self-esteem took a hit.
I was angered because in that moment, her past trash was keeping her from reaping the benefits of her future treasure.
Has anyone ever reminded you of who you used to be or brought up things that you used to do in a less than positive light?
The truth is, we all have a past, present and most importantly, future. Furthermore, we all have the ability to open the gift of evolution.
I reminded her of the amazing things that are unfolding in her life presently and how much her life has evolved.
I could see her self-esteem meter building right back up. This was in no part because of me, it was because she recognized that she was valuable and worthy of everything that she commanded and worked for in life. She like each of us was worthy of reaping her treasures and leaving the trash behind.
In my book Consciously Beautiful: I AM Enough, there are so many stories in which women overcome being reminded of their past. I wrote this book to highlight that there is no shame in transparency and to live and stand firm in our truths.
What I know to be absolute is that we must be certain of who we are, not who we have been but who we are right now, this day and in this moment.
Then and only then can we see a clear path to walk towards our glorious destiny.
Remember, it’s not what they call you, it’s what you answer to that counts.
All my love. ❤️
